Understanding more about my situation

A mental health crisis is when you feel your mental health is at breaking point.

For example, you might be experiencing:

  • suicidal feelings
  • self-harming behaviour
  • extreme anxiety or panic attacks
  • psychotic episodes (such as delusions, hallucinations, paranoia or hearing voices)
  • hypomania or mania
  • other behaviour that feels out of control, and is likely to endanger yourself or others.

Signs and symptoms

Recognising your experiences on our information & support pages might help you make sense of what's happening.

Speak to someone you trust

You may find that they have experienced something similar or it may be that just having someone listen can help in itself.

If you're not sure how, our information on seeking help for your mental health has some tips.
