You can find out more on our how we raise and spend our money page or on our impact page.

Mind and Mind Cymru are one charity. Its registered charity number is 219830. The Mind Cymru logo reflects our presence in Wales and is not the logo of a separate charity.  Money that is raised for Mind Cymru is spent on our activities across England and Wales. Those people that live in Wales and wish their money to be donated to Mind Cymru can be assured that their fundraising will support our activity in Wales.  This is because we spend more in Wales than the amount that we raise through fundraising activity in Wales.

Before you register

You must not use Mind's logo on any products or packaging being sold in aid of Mind. You also can't use our logo on any social media channels, digital platforms or websites without permission.

If you'd like to use our logo on any materials or communications, you'll need to get this approved by us first. Please contact us on [email protected].

We'll do our best to help you fundraise, but Mind is not legally responsible for your fundraising. Please don't do anything that could risk a law being broken or that puts yourself or anyone else in danger.

You'll need to think carefully about how to make your event safe. Please do a risk assessment to see if you need insurance cover or any special licences, for example, a gambling licence for certain raffles or prize draws, a public entertainment licence or a licence to sell alcohol.

We can't accept any responsibility for your event or anyone who participates in it. Your event will not be covered by Mind’s insurance if anything goes wrong.

Please also make sure you've considered the safeguarding of any children, young people and adults at risk that may be in attendance. You can read more about our commitment to our supporters and safeguarding in our Supporter Promise

When you fundraise for Mind, you're fundraising as an independent supporter. This means you should say you're fundraising ‘in aid of’ Mind.

Any promotional material for your event, (e.g. tickets, posters, online adverts) should clearly state whether all funds raised at the event will go to Mind or whether any money will be used to pay for any costs.

For example:

Ticket price includes entry fee and meal per person. All fundraising on the day will go to Mind (NAMH) Registered charity number 219830.

To donate money through sales of a product or service, you’ll need to sign a Commercial Participation Agreement.

You can do this on Work for Good - a brilliant fundraising platform that makes the process quick, simple and legal. Please register hereto set up your first pledge or make a one-off donation.

You can get in touch on [email protected] if you have any questions.

We unfortunately can’t take responsibility for any costs, taxes or expenses in connection with your fundraising.

If you're under 16, you'll need to get your parent or guardian’s consent to fundraise for Mind. Please get in touch on [email protected] for a copy of our consent form.

If there is a real and serious risk to personal safety or potential damage to the brand or reputation of Mind, Mind reserves the right to withdraw all support for your fundraising (including not providing branded materials). If we do this, we will always get in touch to let you know and explain our reasons.

You're responsible for making sure that any paper or electronic data you hold complies with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This includes:

  • Getting appropriate consent before storing or using anyone's data
  • Keeping any data securely and safe from loss, damage or unauthorised access (for example, securing a spreadsheet with a password)

Gift Aid can help you maximise your fundraising. However, there are strict rules about how you can use it. You can only claim Gift Aid on individual donations. You can't claim on ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, winning auction bids, or as part of a group or collection.

You can find out more on The Health and Safety Executive, the Fundraising Regulator: Code of Fundraising Practice or the The Gambling Commission websites.

If you're fundraising outside of the UK, please check your local fundraising laws and best practice guidelines.

At some of our bigger events, we sometimes have cheer points and occasionally post-race receptions. If this is something we offer, you'll see this on the events page on our website.

Unfortunately, we can't usually attend smaller events, as we're a small team.

Sometimes local Minds are able to offer support to smaller local events, so if this is really important to you, it might be worth getting in touch with your local Mind.

We'd love to share your fundraising on our Facebook Events page. Just ask your Fundraising Officer or contact us at [email protected].

Unfortunately, we don't post individual fundraising on our main social media. However, if you tag us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or TikTok, we'll try to interact with you.

If you'd like to, you can write a blog about your fundraising, we'll put this on our website and share it on social media. For more information, get in touch with us at [email protected].

Local Minds are separate charities to national Mind. At national Mind, 20% of our charitable expenditure goes to fund local Minds so if you fundraise for us, some of your money will go to them.

If you'd like to fundraise for your local Mind specifically, please contact them directly. They'll be delighted to hear from you!

When fundraising for us, you're part of #TeamMind. As a member of our team, we ask that you're fair and respectful to any attendees, volunteers or members of the public that engage with your fundraising. You can read our fundraising terms and conditions for more information.

You can read more about our commitment to treating our supporters fairly in our Supporter Promise

If your event involves children, you will need to make sure there is proper adult supervision and organise DBS checks for any adult volunteers.

Some other things to think about:

  • Children under 16 aren't allowed to buy raffle tickets.

  • Children under 16 can't take part in public street collections in England and Wales. There are different laws Scotland and Northern Ireland, so please check the Fundraising Regulator’s guidance.

  • You will need permission from a parent or guardian to take photos of any children under 16.

  • Children under 16 should never have sole responsibility for handling or counting cash.
