Stephen Fry is Mind's President

Stephen Fry became Mind's President in September 2011, taking over from Lord Melvyn Bragg.

Stephen has been a tireless campaigner, supporter and advocate for everyone experiencing mental health problems. His 2006 documentary The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive detailed his own experience of bipolar disorder as well as speaking to many others who shared his diagnosis. His film helped raise awareness of an often misunderstood condition and challenged the stigma surrounding mental health problems. Stephen was subsequently named the 2007 Mind Champion of the Year in a public vote.

Our President is our figurehead and our leading ambassador - promoting our causes and advocating on our behalf. Our president embodies our values: credibility, trustworthiness and authority. Stephen Fry became Mind's President in September 2011, taking over from Lord Melvyn Bragg.

In the short message below, Stephen extends his thanks to all of you who have helped Mind and asks for your continued support.

Mind President Stephen Fry's message to supporters

"I am honoured and delighted to be the President of Mind. The mind, like the body, is prone to disease or disorder, and we must end the stigma of mental health problems.

"The mental health sector is the most amazing place to work at the moment and it is a privilege to follow in the footsteps of Lord Melvyn Bragg. I can only hope to live up to the standard that he has set in his fifteen successful years at the helm."

With your help, we can be there for everyone who needs us.
