About Mind Cymru

People with experience of mental distress inform all that we do at Mind Cymru. We value diversity and ensure inclusion is at the heart of our work.

Mind’s work in Wales is managed and carried out by Mind Cymru. We have offices in Cardiff and staff based in Mid, North and South Wales.

Since 1973 Mind Cymru has established itself as an influential commentator on, and partner in the development of mental health and community care policy in Wales, working closely with the Welsh Assembly Government and National Assembly for Wales, other voluntary and statutory agencies and the Policy & Campaigns, Legal and Parliamentary Units of Mind.

Mental health services

Mind Cymru doesn't provide any direct mental health services to the public. These are provided by 20 local Mind associations in Wales which provide services to people experiencing all forms of mental distress. Mind Cymru supports local Mind associations with their day to day running including issues of funding, quality standards, good practice and organisational effectiveness.

Work to make a difference

We work closely with the Welsh Assembly Government, the National Assembly for Wales and other voluntary and statutory agencies including the Wales Alliance for Mental Health to develop mental health, community care and related policy in Wales so that policy meets the needs of the people of Wales.

Events

We can meet you at key events throughout the year so that you can let us know how you want mental health services to develop in the future. Come and visit our stalls and talk to our staff at the National Eisteddfod and the Royal Welsh Show or come and take part in our conferences or other events.

Suicide intervention

Our national skills based suicide prevention programme - Applied Suicide Skills Intervention Training (ASIST) which is part of the Positive Choices Project is bringing the issue of suicide and how to intervene with a suicidal person into our communities in Wales. People from all walks of life have already received the training. Have you?
