Events in memory

Taking part in an event in memory is very a personal way of supporting Mind.

Many of our supporters chose to celebrate a loved one’s life by holding an event or taking part in a challenge to honour their memory, or remember a birthday or anniversary.

With many different events on offer including marathons, bike rides, swimming events, overseas treks and sky dives, we have something to suit everyone.

You may also like to consider organising your own event. This could be anything from a sponsored walk to a pub quiz or dinner party. Whatever you decide to do the Mind Events team will be there to support you with advice, information and materials.

If you are interested in organising your own event please complete a registration form or email eventsteam@mind.org.uk for more information.

Supporter story: Nick Minogue Memorial Bike Ride

The Minogue family chose to do an event for Mind in memory of the late Nick Minogue from Manchester. A group of Nick’s friends, family and colleagues got on their bikes and completed a grueling 400-mile, six-day trip from Manchester to Cork in Ireland, raising an incredible £10,000 for Mind.

Nick, who died unexpectedly in March 2009 was a scientist who specialized in ozone depletion and global warming. He experienced mental health difficulties towards the end of his life and was always supportive of mental distress in others including the problems experience by his mother who has bipolar disorder.

His brother Ben said

He was an inspiration – incredibly passionate about life and always gave 100% to everything he did. He gained a first class degree and PhD. And despite being diagnosed with the painful and debilitating disease of rheumatoid arthritis when we was just 16 he was an outstanding sportsman.

We decided to dedicate Mind as the charity in Nick's memory as we believe they offer incredible support to people suffering from mental distress, helping both Nick and our mum when they needed it most.

Please visit our Giving in Memory page for information on other ways to support Mind in memory.
